Jeff Sutliff

Jeff Sutliff

Jeff started his working career in electronics engineering technology. He worked in that industry for 20 years fixing and maintaining electronic/electrical and computer-controlled equipment. He was a fixer and decided it was time for a change. He then transitioned into the medical field where he settled into being in the operating room as a Certified Surgical Technologist. He worked hand in hand with the surgeons during various surgical procedures. During those surgeries he witnessed the struggles of working with equipment that could be better. One of those pieces of equipment was an abdominal retractor. Most of them were too small, too big, too complicated or took too long to use. Jeff thought to himself, there must be a better way. Using his fixer mentality, he came up with the idea of making a better "mouse trap." In that concept, the SIStain Retractor idea was born. Jeff then had to find someone to help him put the idea into a physical device. Through a mutual friend he was introduced to Kris. Kris had the mechanical mind, skills and equipment to physically make the device. They worked together through the pandemic and the supply chain issues and produced the SIStain Retractor. They knew they had a great device because it offered improvements over the equipment they had seen in use. The benefits of the device include simple operation, quicker placement in the surgical site, strong and stable retraction, maximum exposure, lightweight construction, fewer components, and a streamlined design. The SIStain Retractor is designed to help streamline the surgical process and potentially reduce the time associated with setup and use. It represents Jeff's belief that there is always a better way to solve a problem. The SIStain Retractor is a game changer.

Kris Cook

Kris Cook

Kris Cook started a welding business in 1991 with his friend and future partner which in a matter of just a few years developed into a multi million dollar welding, fabrication, design and build shop. They did many steel building designs and building erections all over lower michigan. He sold his share of the business to his partner in 2018 and after striking up a friendship with Jeff they began working together developing products for the medical industry they felt could be of benefit to surgeons. Kris has an extensive knowledge of the use of exotic metals used in a number of industries he has encountered over the years.
